Fannie Hillman + Associates Launches Boys & Girls Club Scholarship
The Hillman-Keller Scholarship Fund Provides Over $25,000 for College Scholarships
WINTER PARK, FL (April 12, 2017) – Fannie Hillman + Associates recently partnered with Gidget and Holly Keller to support young people in Central Florida with the launch of the Hillman-Keller Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida’s Joe R. Lee Branch in Eatonville by providing scholarships for post secondary education.
The Hillman-Keller Scholarship Fund would not be possible without the generosity of many people in our community. Fannie Hillman + Associates raised over $7,000 from donations and the sale of raffle tickets at its annual Patio Party, which was held on Saturday, March 18th. In addition to the funds raised at the Patio Party, Scott Hillman, President and Owner of Fannie Hillman + Associates, along with Gidget and Holly Keller, have each pledged $10,000 every year for the next five years.
Holly Keller grew up participating in the Englewood Boys Club, as it was known then, and recognized first-hand how much an education can change a young adult’s life. During Keller’s time at the Englewood Club, he played basketball and developed many other skills, eventually leading him to earn a basketball scholarship from Presbyterian College. A longtime supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs, Keller approached Hillman after they had both attended a Joe R. Lee Branch fundraiser, and proposed the idea to begin a scholarship fund.
“As you can imagine, many of the Club members we serve come from homes where money is tight and the reality of being able to afford to pay for college for many is a distant dream.” said Richard Yount, Development Director for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. “This scholarship will allow our Club members to turn their dreams into realities. We are very appreciative of the support.”
For the past 36 years, Fannie Hillman + Associates has supported several local charities in the community, raising tens of thousands of dollars through various sponsorships and events, including the annual Patio Party. “It is important to us to give back to the community in which we live,” said Scott Hillman. We believe these scholarships will certainly make a positive difference in the lives of not only the individual recipients, but a difference in the community as well. We are proud to be able to support organizations across the Central Florida community and thrilled to launch the Hillman-Keller Scholarship Fund for the Joe R. Lee Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.” In prior years, Fannie Hillman + Associates has supported the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, Community Food & Outreach Center of Central Florida, the Foundation for Foster Children, Habitat for Humanity, Winter Park High School Foundation, and the Winter Park Housing Authority.
